I don’t know about you, but for me, the holidays conjure up traditions, old and new. A tradition that I always looked forward to when visiting with my family are the baked goods that my Mother makes. My Mom loves to bake and always has some sort of goodness around for the holidays. Unfortunately though, with my own little family being so far away from everyone, I don’t have all those baked goods to look forward to. So what is a girl to do? I have to make them myself! It’s a good thing I love to bake too.
I would be happy to bake all the goodies, but since I’m really the only one with a sweet tooth (and the one least able to afford all the calories!!), I have to scale back on the amount of what I make. So this year, I asked my son to pick his favorite of Grandma’s goodies. He chose Gooey Butter Cake, which is a St. Louis tradition. It’s also one of my favorites so I wanted to share the recipe with you all, you can find that here, Gooey Butter Cake
I hope you all enjoy your own Gooey Butter Cake and have a fabulous holiday season. Let me know if you decide to make it and what you think.
